Valued as an all-around working dog, the Black Mouth Cur comes from an energetic, fearless and strong breed. They were originally bred in the southeastern United States. The Black Mouth Cur is capable of herding livestock, provides protection for the home, and tracking game. Because they are highly intelligent, the breed does not fare well to harsh rebukes or punishment.
